Chapter sixteen

Kiira

Before anyone could answer Stella or ask any more questions, our ship was spinning in yet another black hole. We shook deep inside the universal tunnel towards the next universe. Everything was becoming a bit of a blur and it was apparent that we were all getting a little frustrated with spending so much time inside the tiny space that we had.

Raz looked exhausted, Liam just wanted to get home, and Simone was in desperate need of some water. But as the ship shot us out to another side of the black hole, I didn’t know why Stella had called this universe, or at least the fragment of our soul that resided on this universe the final piece of our puzzle. As far as I was aware, a part of our collective soul resided in a lot more than just five. There were so many questions that I had still, and I’m sure that there were even more questions that both Raz and Simone had as well. But all of us knew that now wasn’t the time for them. I think that all of us were just ready to place our feet back down on the ground, or at least in Simone’s case, the water.

I wanted that too, but I guess my mind and my body were a little bit distracted through Tyler now snuggled up close to me. And what a great distraction he was.

Tyler met my eyes, and he smiled warmly at me, flicking his eyes through the new universe that we were floating through. I followed his gaze. We were right on the edge of it, and I couldn’t see any planets up ahead of us. The universe of air as Stella had called it earlier was nothing but darkness with a few small flickering lights far in the distance.

“By the looks of it, I think we finally have time to get back to our conversation,” Tyler said quietly. I gazed around the ship. Everyone else was way too focused on their own internal world or the new universe that we were floating to listen into our conversation.

“I’ve flooded your ears with all my life drama, I want to know about you,” he said. I was still curled up underneath his arm; we didn’t need to avoid the water anymore. The pool at the bottom of the ship had almost dwindled to nothing. And the two of us were wet from the splash of spinning through the last black hole. But I was comfortable underneath his arm and I didn’t want to move.

“What would you like to know?” I said coyly. I knew I had told him the brief rundown of my life just before, but I always felt strange diving deep into all the aspects of me. I wasn’t like Tyler, who seemed so comfortably open telling someone he had only just met all the major details of his life. I wasn’t good at even expressing my feelings to someone who I had known for most of my life.
